Networking event
We were pleased to host our own networking event, to serve as a platform to connect, share ideas, explore opportunities and build relationships with all the passionate individuals and organisations working in the field of orangutan conservation in Sabah, Borneo.
The event was held in November 2023 at Sepilok Nature Resort, and we were pleased to welcome representatives from organisations including BORA, HUTAN-KOCP, Panthera, Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Research Centre, WWF-Malaysia, Orangjuga, Danau Girang Field Centre, BSBCC and APE Malaysia. We also extended invitations to local tour and travel agencies aiming to enhance awareness of orangutan conservation by reaching a broader audience through those who visit the region.
Adrienne and Jacha introduced the work of the charity and our hopes for us all to work together and share ideas on how to improve the future outlook for orangutans. Other members of our team provided insights into their roles within the organisation and at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
Whilst attendees may have heard of our work at Sepilok, the afternoon gave the spotlight to some of the smaller projects, including our growing education and outreach efforts to raise awareness within communities in Sabah and globally.
The event proved to be an invaluable opportunity, developing new relationships and facilitating a deeper understanding of each organisation's important work. A number of inspiring exchanges of ideas and possibilities unfolded, from research projects to community-driven outreach programmes.
At the core of the event was our shared commitment to making a positive impact. Thank you to everyone who attended.
