Creating awareness of the plight of the orangutan
Celebrated on 19th August every year, International Orangutan Day is a special day to raise awareness for and show your support to the critically endangered orangutan.
Once widespread throughout South-East Asia, orangutans now inhabit only two islands; Sumatra and Borneo.
There are many threats that face the species survival including deforestation, climate change, poaching and industrial development.
Today is the perfect time to take action in helping to save and preserve these amazing animals.
