Filming to spread awareness
We are excited to announce that filming has begun at Sepilok with the hopes of spreading further awareness about the plight of the orangutans.
With support from the Sabah Wildlife Department, we have begun creating a new information video that will be shown to the thousands of people who visit Sepilok each year.
This was a great opportunity to showcase our partnership with Sabah Wildlife department and all of the projects that we have achieved together over the years.
Visitors to Sepilok currently see a film which was made by Orangutan Appeal UK over ten years ago. It is fantastic that we have had the opportunity to update this and make it more relevant for today. Much has changed in that time including the status of the orangutan being changed from 'at risk' to 'critically endangered'.
The creator of 'Meet the Orangutans', Phil Stebbing has accepted our invitation to create the film and has joined the team in Borneo.
Award-winning Malaysian photographer and ambassador for Orangutan Appeal UK, Cede Prudente has also joined the filming to share his expertise.
The film will be out in October and will also be available to purchase in our shop.
