About Nami
Nami is a confident and independent female, who is eager to learn and adapt to new challenges. She was 18 months old when she arrived at Sepilok in 2019.
Nami was surrendered to Sepilok by a member of the public, having been kept illegally as a pet. Nothing is known of Nami's past or what happened to her mother but we know the whole experience would have been incredibly traumatic for her. Fortunately, she has adapted to her new life, embracing the jungle gym and displaying a natural curiosity and eagerness to learn. She's now a confident and playful orangutan, thriving with the support of her fellow young companions and human carers, on her journey to return to the wild.

How adoptions help
Symbolic adoptions are an engaging way to contribute towards conserving the critically endangered Bornean orangutan by following the progress of a rescued individual at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
Your contribution will go towards supporting various projects and initiatives which are all aimed at protecting and preserving these animals and their habitats in Borneo. This approach means that all the orangutans at Sepilok receive support and allows us to allocate resources where they are needed most, including rescue efforts, habitat restoration and our education and outreach programme.
You’ll receive a progress report about your adopted orangutan after six months.
